2004 Annual Performance Review
Had my review today with my manager. Went fine. It was short and sweet and right to the point. With the merger of Cingular and AT&T Wireless, the whole review process was shortened and HR is now only requiring a little information. They basically want to know if you are being a good employee or not. My review with Sharon was very positive. I receive high marks and good comments. Sharon stated on my review that…"Jason more than accomplished all goals we set as a team. He worked extremely hard and even put in much time at home to exceed all expectations."
With the new management at Cingular, it is no longer that "fun" working environment. At times, I would say that it is unhealthy. Everyone walks around like zombies and no one seems to care about what they do or how they do it. The Cingular management team that has been established is really turning into that good ‘ol boys club and think that they know all and they know best. Sure, it’s there team and they can feel that way. When they have to support a "customer" being what ever group they support, that customer will suffer in the long run. Only one way to learn though. Because of all the crap that goes on and the apparent back stabbing that takes place, my time with Cingular is coming to and end. I need to find something externally and find something fast. I am going to go crazy staying here. I feel bad for the people that I will leave behind. It’s only going to get worse. Of course, the Cingular folks might be doing this for a reason. They might want everyone to leave so that they do not have to pay out severance on all those employees. As far as I am concerned, they can keep the damn money. It’s tainted anyway.
I am going to miss having Sharon as a manager. She has a great management philosophy of be responsible and get your work done. She will support you and stand by your side when need be. For that, I have been very fortunate. It’s not everyday that you get to work with a manager/supervisor that you really enjoy and get along with well. I have had that for the last 3 years.
