Jail Time for Dog Owner

A woman in the Seattle area was sentenced to jail today. She is going to serve 3 days in jail because of her dog. Apparently, the dog has escaped the woman’s yard more then 5 times in the pas. All of those times Animal Control was called out to the scene. The last time Animal Control was sent out, she was prepared to pay the fine that she thought she was going to get. Instead of a fine, she gets jail time.

The woman is an owner of black lab. Any lab owner would know that they like to run sometimes. Yet labs are relatively safe dogs; especially with a good owner. I should know, I own a yellow lab. They are known to be wonderful with kids, etc. etc. It seems more like the judge was trying to make a statement to dog owners at her expense.

This woman is a mother of a disabled child and even took out a second mortgage on her home to pay for an Invisible Fence to be installed. The judge didn’t think that was good enough. So he sentenced her to 3 days in jail.

Seems like people who commit more serious crimes can get off easier and sooner then this woman is. I think the whole thing is complete crap. The judge obviously has no heart and no common sense. It is a shame to hear about stories like this.
