Catholic Church Post Pope John Paul II

With the passing of Pope John Paul II a couple of days ago, a lot of interesting events should take place within the Catholic church.

After reading Angles & Demons, one of the subjects discussed was the events that occurs after a passing of a pope. I can now see these events take place first hand. Now I am really glad that I read the book. What I am really interested in is what is going to happen next. Pope John Paul II was considered by some to be conservative. I think he was in some aspects, but he did embrace technology. He used the new technology to help broadcast his message to the 1 billion Catholics worldwide. My prediction is that the next pope will be similar in being conservative.

I would like to see the church take a more modern approach on birth control, women, and even married priests. I think that if the church would not condemn birth control, we would see more people participate in the church and even more might join the church. The church should also consider woman playing a more active and powerful role in the church. This most likely goes against current doctrine, but crap, that stuff was discussed centuries ago. Time to let go of the past an embrace the future. Finally, let’s admit it. Current priests are old and some are perverts. These priests like little boys. Not cool! Maybe if they allowed a married man to be a priests, we would see more priests and the he current crises would die out. The Vatican needs to make a public apology though. Pope John Paul II apologized to Jews for the persecution that took place. The church is a human institution that can make mistakes. It did make mistakes. Face up, confess, apologize, and look to the future to undo those wrong doings.

You got your whole education about the RC dynasty from Angels & Demons? That’s so cute! These guys are the root of evil. I guess all that staking & burning, hating & marginalizing, prejudice, manipulation, repression, guilt, greed, torture and killing was filtered out by your youthful optimism. What’s a little rape among friends as long as you keep the women down, discredit anyone with an idea that challenges authority and enslave the poor whose comfort is praying to some imaginary chracter since they have been denied education? Rape: It’s the least of their crimes.

That’s right. Private school could not teach me about the Roman Catholic Church like Angels & Demons. Ha! Now this rape stuff being the least of the church’s crimes? No way José! Rape bottom line isn’t acceptable. Nor is the murder or oppression that the church has committed in the past. Rape is at the forefront of their problems.

WHen you are raped you can always retreat into your mind. WHen you’re dead your dead; but at least you have no worries. Wrongs to the mind are always worse than wrongs to the body.
