Life Post ICOS
Well, it’s been a couple of weeks since I received word that I did not get the job at ICOS. I took the initiative to get more things to do at Cingular. I think so far, that was a smart thing. I talked to my boss Maxine and she informed me that I am technically not a analyst, but more of a manager. I thought that was totally cool!
Anyway, the projects that I have been assigned have been going very well. Maxine gave me this one project that I need to work with IT to fix the ‘autoloader form’. Basically, the autoloader form is a an Excel spreadsheet that has a lot of validation rules built into it. This form is technically a part number request form. Once the form is completely filled out, a user would save the file as a CSV file and then FTP the file into Oracle. Oracle does process the file, but it doesn’t process the text within the file. Oracle imports basically just blank records into the system. The purpose of the form is to allow a user to perform mass imports of items into Oracle tables without having to use any of the forms to perform the data entry. The concept seems cool, but the way Oracle is designed, I am not very confident in the system. Let’s just see. I will give it the benefit of the doubt.
