Super Bowl Bound

Holy shit! The Seahawks won the NFC Championship game!!! The Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl. This is the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. I can’t believe it….the Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl.

Tonight, now that the game is over, a lottery is being performed to determine which season ticket holders will have access to purchase tickets for the game. The lottery is “weighted” so that each ticket account will receive one entry for each of the following factors:

  • Each year of support as a season ticket holder
  • Each full season ticket held in 2005

My season ticket account has been active since 7/29/1975. Keep your fingers crossed.

You know, I read your blog earlier this week where you were talking about Steve Smith. You said “To go out and say that the Seahawks will shut him down would be irresponsible. Shutting down Steve Smith might be next to impossible.”

Well, impossibility, meet the Seahawks. 5 receptions, 33 yards. That’s what the hawks were able to hold him to, and it showed just how one-dimensional the Panthers were.

I think the three interceptions were key to the hawks winning the game, and I suspect those three interceptions went like this in Jake Plummer’s head:

“Got to get the ball to Steve. Crap, he’s not open. Crap, I’ve had the ball for ten seconds now, and my pocket is collapsing. Crap, he’s STILL not open. Crap, that looks like one of my team members downfield, better ditch the ball before I get sacked. CRAP, I just got intercepted. AGAIN.”

The hawks are awesome, but the Steelers showed Denver today that they can make deep strikes to their wide receivers on just about every play.

This is going to be a very competitive Superbowl. I wasn’t convinced that the hawks could win it before they spanked the Panthers like they did, but we need to bring our A-game– The Panthers simply didn’t have the right dimensions in their game to expose our soft underbelly. The Steelers just might.

    My prediction: Hawks 30 (3TD, 3FG) Steelers 22 (2TD, 2FG, 1S)
