Promotion Time?

I had a nice conversation with my boss today. She had a little meeting with our VP about me. The subject of conversation is to move me into a new role with different responsibilities compared to what I am doing today. After the conversation, the VP made it sound like it was a wonderful idea. He is all for it! Thank god I have the boss that I do. If I had someone else, I would be in some serious trouble with no hope of ever progressing within the corporation.

The role I would be moving into is something a like a functional analyst that works with the IT department, but not directly in IT. I would be assigned some special projects and also do a lot of intranet enhancements to our current infrastructure. Staying out of IT would allow me to maintain some creativity and not be limited by all the bureaucracy that is in IT.

With any promotion, comes more money ;-). I am not going to mention any specific numbers or plans because I don’t want to jinx myself, but just posting about it probably already jinxed me.

I am going to keep my fingers crossed and hope this all plays out like my boss has planned. This new role that I could be doing sounds really exciting compared to what I am doing now.
