But here are two other things I have thought of: ;-)

1) Comcast is required by law to provide you with a set-top box that has Firewire out ports. See &lt;a href="http://www.gizmodo.com/archives/fcc-requires-firewire-on-all-cable-boxes-015708.php" rel="nofollow"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;, for example.

2) Go to radio shack, and buy a UHF antenna. For as little as $30-50, you can get most of your local channels right over the air, including KOMO in HD for free.

I have one of &lt;a href="http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103088&#38;cp=&#38;kw=uhf+antenna&#38;parentPage=search" rel="nofollow"&gt;these&lt;/a&gt;, and just picked up one of &lt;a href="http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103085&#38;cp=&#38;kw=uhf+antenna&#38;parentPage=search" rel="nofollow"&gt;these&lt;/a&gt;.

I decided to upgrade my antenna for a couple reasons:

First, I don't know that I can run the same antenna I have into two HDTVs. Second, the antenna I have sometimes cuts out because it is attic mounted (and not outside) which is the nice thing about these antennas-- you can put them in your attic!

Anyway, those are some options for you to consider. As for the contract, that's a tough one. Perhaps the antenna will get you through the next few months when you can decide to make the move to Comcast.</description>
