Wireless Changes for Spa Doctor
Well, we did some major changes at Spa Doctor with the wireless service provider. The Spa Doctor has been with Verizon Wireless for years. No complaint with service or coverage, but we needed to take the business to the next level. We needed to gain faster communication with the employees, allow remote email review & responding, and also GPS support. Believe it or not, Nextel (Sprint) offered the services we need.
Nextel’s bread and butter is the push-to-talk feature. It works great! Nextel also offers some phones with GPS capabilities. This allows us to plan routes in the morning and send the directions for each stop directly to the phone. If one of the techs is lost and calls back to the office, we can send directions directly to the phone based on their exact location. Now comes the data part, but probably the most difficult piece to utilize. We hooked up the main office managers with the new RIM BlackBerry 7250i. With these devices, 3 of the Spa Doctor employees will be able to read and respond to their Spa Doctor email accounts. Of course these devices have Bluetooth wireless on board so no more wired headsets. The Spa Doctor is going’ geeky!!
Training will always be a challenge ;-). LOL!

I took two calls while working on hot tubs. It was great to have those bluetooth wireless headsets.
Still working on the other learning pieces but hey - at least we can take calls. Not bad for day one! Although - John did drop his headset off of his ear into a mud puddle!
