DHS: Patch Your Windows Operating System
It’s not everyday that the United States government gets involved in operating system security, but if memory serves me correctly, this is the second time this has happen for Windows XP. I think the first patch recommendation came from the FBI in regards to a vulnerability in UPnP. Now, the Department of Homeland Security is recommending all Windows users patch their systems “as quickly as possible”. Without the patch, a hacker could remotely take control of your system. It might be just me, but it seems like every Microsoft security patch seems to say that exact same thing.
According to the DHS press release, U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) has been working side-by-side with Microsoft to “minimize any impact from this vulnerability”. Of course, they also recommend that you keep your system up-to-date with all the latest security patches.
Don’t you feel safer???
