Sonics Continue To Make All the Wrong Moves
The Seattle Supersonics fired head coach Bob Hill and general manager Rick Sund today. I am very aware that this was one of the worst seasons in team history, but blame cannot solely be placed in the hands of the coach and/or GM. I personally believe the Sonics’ problems have rested on one person – Wally Walker.
Starting in 1994, when Walker took a front office position, the Sonics as an organization began their downward spiral. Walker has single-handedly destroyed everything that was once great with the Sonics. During his tenure, the Sonics lost all star players, coaches, and fan support. Sonic fans cannot blame just Bob Hill for this year. This entire roster, and management, have all been the workings of Wally Walker.
Supposedly, when that group from Oklahoma City led by Clay Bennett purchased the Sonics, Wally’s time with the Sonics ended. If Wally Walker is anywhere near the Sonics, the team will continue to fail; it’s that simple.
Clay Bennett, the current chairman, is trying to earn public support for a new sports arena that will house the Sonics. Why would the local public want to a support a losing team that has been going down since 1994? Just too many mistakes have happened over the years. As a result, I’ve lost trust in the organization and interest in Sonics basketball. I still don’t see the Sonics really making the effort to turn things around. If Clay continues to threat that he will move the Sonics, then fine – move them.

Jason, this whole deal is so much like the Grizzlies its not even funny. New ownership came into Vancouver, said they didn’t want to move the team. Made terrible moves, never really tried and then wow, one year later they’re in Memphis.
I hate to say it, but bye bye Sonics.
…but Wally Walker will forever be the devil!
Considering how I’ve lost interest in the NBA because of how the game itself has transformed into something other than a sport, I could care less if the Sonics stay or go.
