The New iPod Family

Apple held their “Special Event” this morning (10 am PDT). As expected – Apple delivers goodness!!! Apple unveiled an entirely redesigned iPod line-up; plus a whole new iPod model. New model you ask? Yes – the rumors were true and the new iPod Touch was announced. This model is essentially an iPhone without the phone part, but a little thinner.

Which iPod is right for me? My decision is based on storage. The classic model continues to offer the most storage available, so it will be an iPod Classic for me. I love the look and features of the iPod Touch model, but it only offers up to 16Gb of storage - not enough for my music library. The iPod Classic on the other hand delivers an astounding 80Gb or 160Gb of storage! Battery life was also improved on the iPods as well. My choice is the black iPod Classic. Once I can go on “lunch break”, I will fly down to the Apple Store and grab me one.

UPDATE: I went to the Apple Store in Bellevue a little after 2:00 pm PDT. Sure enough - the new iPods were not in the store :(. They told me that the shipment of new iPods should arrive in a “couple of days”. Looks like I am scheduling another trip to the Apple Store this Saturday.

UPDATE 2: Saturday morning, 9:30 am, after the longest 3-day wait of my life, Sebas and I head off to Bellevue Square. First stop for us - Apple Store. As soon as I walked in I was relieved. I immediately discover all the new iPods are in the store and ready for purchase. To the sales counter I go - black iPod 80Gb Classic please - thank you! Now that I have the iPod in hand; Sebas and I race back home so we can unbox and sync it up. :)
