Yes We Did

I know I am a little late at posting this, but we the people successfully elected Barack Obama as our 44th President of the United States. It’s a huge sense of relief knowing that Americans didn’t make the same mistake a third time.

If you’re curious about this whole Yes We Can line, I urge you to watch and listen to his speech from January 2008.

A big congratulations to Obama for his impressive win. Also, kudos to his choices for his cabinet posts, finally there will some brains running this country after such a long time.

Now, however, I am reading about all his supporters dissappointed with his choices, one was Latinos did not feel that they were given a high enough cabinet position, the other a bigger controversy is his choice of Rick Warren to preside over the invocation. It seems as though Obama has already disillusioned the Gay and Lesbian constituents that were so enthusiastically behind Obama’s campaign. Well boo hoo…..cant always get what you want.

What has impressed me the most is Obama’s political centering that long been absent in the White House. This is a smart move – the nation is, on the whole, centered leaning right. If those on the left believe that Obama will now run the nation as Left as Bush was Right then be prepared for a one term Democratic Presidency. Part of our problem was that this nation was divided by Bush and Republicans leaving many Americans in the cold , it would be an incredible mistake to now swing far left and think the majority of the electorate will follow. It’s been said ” If you hate something, don’t you do it too.”

I hope that, while some special interest groups might be disappointed, they will see the bigger picture and perhaps in soon they might get what they need.
