Change is coming
It’s time for some change on this site. The change is simple:
- New theme
- increase in posting
- new embedded gallery that supports fun JavaScript effects.
- more photos
What to do with my old content remains a mystery at this point. Part of me wants to remove it all and just start over. The other part of me wants to retain my old posts simply for the memories.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done anything to this site but fear not. I am back and better now.

Did I do the right thing?
Filed in Work, , 9:56 amThis week I either made my one of my worst career decisions or one of my best career decisions. We’ll have many decisions like this in the future, but this one was important at this stage of my life.
I have been with in my current role for just over a year now. A member of another department I work with informed me a role that was open. I told them I was interested, but would not apply until I gathered some details and understand exactly what this position was all about.
IE 8: Getting better…
Filed in Web/Tech, August 28, 2008, 12:36 pmMicrosoft released an updated beta version of Internet Explorer 8 yesterday. I download a copy for Windows Vista and I must state that Internet Explorer is improving, but will never replace Firefox for me. The performance I experienced with IE 8 was impressive, but since most websites are not compatible with IE 8, you are forced to go into ‘compatibility mode’.
A lot of talk has been made into this “InPrivate” mode. This setting essentially opens a new session of Internet Explorer and your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and usernames and passwords are no longer being retained by the browser. Bloggers have called this feature “Porn Mode”. It works as advertised.
For me, I could care less about web slices. IE 8 incorporates some features that are available in Firefox 3, but still does not have native spell checker. Performance alone will make IE 8 worth an upgrade, but don’t expect it to replace Firefox.
I Won!! I Won!!!
Filed in Work, August 6, 2008, 6:53 pmHoly smokes - I totally won!!! Alright, check this. Back in the day when I was working for the DeathStar they had this employee reward program called the “Circle of Excellence”. This was a reward that was granted to the top percentage of nominees and they would enjoy an all expenses paid trip to Hawaii for a few days. Well, I done won that twice at the DeathStar. w00t!
Any who, my current employer also happens to have a little reward that is very similar. After receiving a nomination from a collective group, it was announced today that my nomination was accept by senior leadership and I would be enjoying an all expenses paid trip to Maui!!!!!! w00t w00t!!
Imus: Here we go again
Filed in Current Affairs, June 24, 2008, 1:27 pmDon Imus is back in the news for all the wrong reasons; again. Last time he made national headlines was for his comments towards the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. Now, he is back in the news for comments in regards to Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones. The discussion that has caused a stir is:
“What color is he?” Imus asked.
“He’s African-American,” Wolf responded.
“Well, there you go,” Imus said. “Now we know.”
